I say ‘hides’ because of the huge trees growing in the premises that obscure the view from the street. That’s the idea though, not announcing their presence guarantees certain guests more privacy and gives the hotel a certain kind of exclusivity. Opened in 2010 the Chesney Hotel has a total of 50 rooms ranging in categories from Silver, Silver plus, Gold, Gold plus to Platinum. Each room is exquisitely decorated in subdued hues and possesses central air conditioning, 24 hour Wi-Fi access, a mini bar, LCD flat screen TV with satellite Cable service, Hairdryer, Tea/Coffee making facilities and 24 hour room service.
The hallways of all four floors in the Chesney Hotel have unlike other hotels that use portraits of landscapes or modern art; portraits and quotes of famous World leaders, religious leaders, actors, sportsmen, business icons, models and classic movie posters. The business manager informed me that the guests who are mostly corporate types find the portraits and the general ambience and serenity of the hotel inspiring.
Other facilities around the hotel are car hire services, the state of the art conference room which depending on the arrangement can seat a maximum of 25 people, the fully equipped gym, swimming pool and adjacent garden, a well stocked bar and spacious restaurant. There is also the exclusive V lounge which has music and two flat screen TVs for guests and their visitors to kickback over drinks. The restaurant’s menu offers a variety of local and continental cuisine; in addition there is a happy hour lunch special menu of traditional dishes served Monday to Friday from 12noon-4pm. For those four hours all dishes on the special menu are half price. Sweet music to the ears of a foodie, like yours truly.
