I simply can’t start regaling you with details of my visit to the exquisite Palazzo Dumont Hotel without first mentioning the smell. It first hits you as you walk through the double doors into the finely decorated lobby. As I waited to see the manager I breathed deeply the scent of potpourri, lavender, rose and wood that lingered in the air like a lover’s kiss. Sorry I’m waxing poetic but if my nostrils didn’t deceive me the Palazzo Dumont Hotel is the best smelling hotel I have ever been to home or abroad.

In case you are wondering, smell isn’t all this boutique hotel in Lekki Peninsula has going for it. First opened in 2014, it has maintained its international hospitality standards. Perfect for the whole family because of its prime location; a 3 minute drive from the Lekki Conservation Center, 8 minutes away from the nearest beach and right behind a popular shopping mall.

Each of its 34 rooms is tastefully decorated and split into 3 categories; deluxe, mini suite, executive suite. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi, a standard swimming pool, the spa, well equipped gym, ample parking space and a multipurpose hall that seats approximately 150 – 200 people; depending on the chair arrangements. There are CCTV cameras in strategic locations, uniformed security, electrified barbwire, smoke detectors and constantly serviced fire extinguishers.

The Melissa restaurant serves both local and continental dishes plus a mouthwatering Sunday Brunch from 11am – 4pm that is quite affordable. Sports lovers can catch their favorite team matches at the Safari Sports Bar and later in the evening you and your friends can choose between the Soprano Pool Bar and the Casablanca Rooftop Lounge to relax over reasonably priced cocktails.

Speaking of which there’s a 30% discount on all drinks on Saturdays 7 – 11pm, a live band, comedy and musical performances and a celebrity hangout which is always fun all around.
