The very first time I found myself at the Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel I was attending the wake of a beloved recently departed family member. The venue was a hall on the first floor and the serving staff had set up a table with assorted finger foods and drinks at the back. The staff told me there were 6 halls in total and the maximum capacities depending on the seating style were from 30 to 450 persons. Apparently we had booked the one that could seat 70 people. Impressed with how pleasant the staff was, I made a note to visit and explore the hotel under more pleasant circumstances.

Well four years on, my wish came true and my fascination with this hotel in Victoria Island just keeps growing. With a lot more art pieces on display than I remember, the lobby area had some really fancy furniture. The lamps, coffee tables, chairs and bureaus had beautiful ornate designs.  I admired the CCTV cameras, sprinkler system, central fire alarm, heat detectors and fire extinguishers placed around the hotel in strategic places.

The Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel opened in 2006 and prides itself in offering personalized service to all its guests both big and small. How do they do this? By always seeking to serve you better even guests who are there for just a day are periodically asked if they lack anything. There are 49 luxuriously decorated non-smoking rooms each one with a spacious bathroom, ironing table, safety deposit box, fully stocked mini bar, Internet Protocol TV and 24 hour access to a Wi-Fi network.

Located in the heart of Victoria Island’s business district, the boutique hotel is within driving distance of some choice clubs, restaurants, businesses and approximately ten minutes away from the popular Eko Atlantic City. Even the Murtala Mohammed International Airport is a mere 45 minutes away with minimal traffic.

Nevertheless, it is likely you will want to spend much time away from this beautiful hotel in Victoria Island. The gym is well equipped, the pool is standard with a bar of its own and the Onyx Jazz Lounge has large screen televisions for watching those important News and Sports events while enjoying inventive cocktails and the best jazz music playlist. The Alo Alo Restaurant has sumptuous meals on offer from the Local, African to Continental dishes. My favorite part of the restaurant is the baby grand piano that guests with musical gifts are welcome to play.

In recent years the Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel has won several awards such as ‘Friendliest Hotel in Lagos’, ‘Top 5 Business Hotel’, ‘Top 100 Hotels in Nigeria’ etc. Clearly this hotel is first choice for the discerning traveler and companies with pedigree.
