This newly opened boutique hotel in Victoria Island is located at H210 Muri Okunola Street, in the vicinity of several businesses and popular hangouts. In fact, my first stay at Caravel Suites was after a concert on the Island ended in the early hours. I was ushered in by the security guard and the night receptionist. After a restful night and hearty breakfast, I took in the décor which is a mix of modern furnishing with bits of art from Greece and different parts of Africa.

Opened in the second half of 2016 Caravel Suites has a total of 28 rooms; the rooms are in 4 categories – Classic, Deluxe, Executive and Ambassador Suites. Each room is decorated with a king sized bed, air conditioner, writing desk, tea/coffee making set, armchairs, coffee table, mini fridge and flat screen TV with cable channels. Most of the well laid out bathrooms are equipped with Jacuzzi tubs and shower jets.

Other facilities on ground are the luxurious restaurant with its menu of comparatively priced local and intercontinental dishes. Guests of Caravel Suites have access to the free Wi-Fi network, complimentary breakfast, courtesy newspapers and bar/lounge with two large screen televisions to keep up with the news and sporting events.

For business travelers there’s a boardroom with seating for up to 12 people and a conference room with a PA system, projector and screen; it can seat a maximum of 50 people.

There’s ample parking on the premises with uniformed guards and CCTV cameras in strategic spots. A caravel is a small, fast Spanish or Portuguese sailing ship of the 15th–17th centuries and a mural of one such ship is painted above the fountain in the courtyard of the hotel. Another interesting piece of art is the large drummer on the side of the building.

The view of the Island from the balconies is really beautiful, especially at night; don’t just take my word for it. Click here to make a reservation now.
