This boutique hotel in Ikeja is located at number 20 Olufunmilola Okikiolu Street off the popular and ever busy Toyin Street. The street like most streets in Ikeja is narrow and frequently has vehicles double parked all the way to the intersection. Divan Crest Hotel has enough parking for approximately five vehicles and with light traffic is a mere 15 minute drive to the Local Airport and 20 minutes to the International Airport. The hotel is also in close proximity to the Ikeja business district.
Once you arrive and check in you’ll find the rooms totally worth it, there are 9 rooms in total; named after precious metals and stones and divided into Standard, Deluxe and Executive categories. Each room is fitted with modern décor; comfortable king sized beds, air conditioning, smoke detectors, a spacious shower with a bathroom scale, flat screen LED TV with satellite channels, arm chair, writing desk, mini fridge and tea/coffee making set. Contemporary paintings are displayed along the hallways and along with fire extinguishers within easy reach.
All guests have access to the 24 hour Wi-Fi network, there’s no gym, swimming pool or lounge but there’s a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. The menu offers authentic and affordable traditional dishes. When I asked why there were so few Continental dishes on offer, I was told it was because since inception the guests; especially the ones from overseas, always order local cuisine.
Opened in 2015 Divan Crest Hotel has an outdoor bar at the back which is always busy in the evening especially during soccer games. Occasionally a celebrity is brought in for command performance with no gate fees. Secured by high walls, barbwire and uniformed security this hotel is convenient for travelers who mostly have business on the mainland. Even if you are just on holiday Ikeja has sufficient distractions for every member of the family.
