Excel Oriental Hotel & Suites…Paradise for the Transient Traveler

This beautiful hotel is an architectural masterpiece with rich fittings and finish. As you cross the lobby to the front desk the first thing that catches the eye is the massive drooping chandelier.  The furniture is   super comfortable; I know because I drifted off once or twice while waiting for the director of sales, the pleasant lady who introduced herself as Uche.

It was Uche; who has been there since Excel Oriental Hotel’s inception in 2011 that showed me around the different rooms like the Deluxe, Superior, Classic, Executive, Penthouse and the super luxurious Presidential Suite with its own mini terrace and living room. The spacious bathroom has a shower and Jacuzzi tub and there’s a mini kitchen and a guest room, all well worth the N98, 000 –price tag.

Speaking of spacious, there are 48 such rooms in total with great views of the surrounding streets and on a clear day you can see the control tower of the international airport in the horizon. The conference hall comes with a projector and screen, easily seats 200 people and is perfect for banquets, seminars, grand birthdays and wedding receptions. If that’s too grand for your purposes, the mini hall is smaller and excellent for board meetings, it seats 25.

The terrace bar has the best view of the locale and the airport, usually rented by people for intimate gatherings like birthday parties. With its cane furniture and soft lighting, it is best appreciated at night. The poolside is standard and just past it is the space for a proposed bush bar and the gym which I jokingly referred to as the “at all at all gym” because of the small number of equipment I found there.

Considering the hotel’s proximity to the airport, I expect it to be a favorite of transient travelers, who are constantly on the move from city to city. Same goes for people who have late or early flights, just finish all the business you have on the island or mainland and check in to the Excel Oriental Hotel & Suites. They have free Airport Drop offs for the executive guest, now that’s premium service.

After my exhaustive tour I had a delicious Spanish Omelette in the restaurant and of course the menu boasted the usual African and Intercontinental dishes plus a few more exotic choices. If you like dining out, don’t just take my word for it. Go check it out and tell Uche I sent you.
