Exclusivity can be a blessing when it comes to certain hotels; like a well-kept secret between close friends. Sometimes it pays to be the one who knows where all the treasure and bones are buried. And so it was I visited the 79, Younis Bashorun Street, Victoria Island address of the Scarlet Lodge. If you didn’t know what to look for you wouldn’t know it’s a hotel. Impressive in design and décor, this boutique hotel first opened in 2003.

The Scarlet Lodge has a total of 14 rooms split into three categories – the Junior, Executive and Royal suites. Guests have access to 24 hour Wi-Fi internet, Tea/Coffee making set, safety deposit box, a coffee table, minibar, plush arm chairs, spacious bathroom with bidet and flat screen TV with satellite channels. Depending on how long you are staying you can also order an in-room massage; this hotel is prepared to make your wishes come true.

Other facilities include superb laundry and dry cleaning services, a swimming pool, gym, boardroom that seats a maximum of 12 persons, a lounge, well stocked bar and restaurant that serves mostly Continental and Middle Eastern cuisine prepared by the affable Chef Triple C. If you have special dietary needs however they can accommodate you.

While staying at this hotel in Victoria Island don’t be surprised if you run into one famous face or the other. Its serenity, great food, efficient staff and reasonable rates seem to be ready knowledge among a certain tier of society. The décor is so perfectly pleasant; a music video was shot poolside the day before my arrival. Speaking of which, the poolside lounge is perfect for viewing sports events on the big screen TVs that are usually hidden behind some very clever recesses.

Travelers on business or pleasure are welcome at the Scarlet Lodge and are guaranteed a hassle free stay in close proximity to the Island’s business district, the Landmark event center and Oniru private beach.
