Whereabouts of Splendour Hotels & Suites
Located at number 1, Adefowope Street, off Association Avenue, this boutique hotel in Ilupeju was first opened in 2014 and one of its best features in this writer’s humble opinion is the red brick façade on the exterior of the ground floor. The overall architecture of Splendour Hotel & Suites is pleasant considering the overall space they had to work with.
What to expect
Don’t expect an Olympic sized swimming pool or world class gym; be glad they made these facilities available at all. The Splendour Hotel & Suites restaurant (which serves both local and continental dishes) converts into a hall on demand and can seat a total of 50 persons and the meeting room on the first floor can accommodate up to 20 people depending on the seating style. After a meeting libations can be had at the well-stocked bar and lounge. In the lobby there is an alcove with four comfortable chairs and the day’s newspapers laid out for guests or visitors to peruse.
There are 36 rooms in total split into Standard, Deluxe, Maxi Deluxe & Royal Suite categories. Each room is nonsmoking and comes with comfortable and practical décor; guests get free 24 hour Wi-Fi access, a mini fridge, an air-conditioner and a writing desk. The bathrooms depending on which of the four categories you are staying in have shower stalls and nice roomy bathtubs (appreciated by someone as bulky as yours truly). Printers, photocopier and scanners are available to the business traveler.
Splendour Hotel & Suites is secured by high walls, CCTV cameras, uniformed guards and mobile police patrols. There are smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and a central fire alarm with clearly visible waning notices against smoking period. There’s ample parking on the premises enough for approximately 20 cars and backup generators that guarantee 24 hour electricity.
Conclusion
The staff are genial and helpful and the Splendour Hotel & Suites is within spitting distance of a taxi park, the popular Obanikoro bus stop, several supermarkets and stores, a mere twenty minutes away from the Maryland Mall and about 30 minutes away from the International Airport. The hotel is well suited to both the casual and business traveler.
