I recently traveled to Ibadan in Oyo state to celebrate Nigeria’s ‘Independence Day’ holiday weekend with friends. I used the opportunity to stay at and review a few choice hotels.
Owu Crown Hotel is located at Km 2, Iwo Road, Monatan and was the first hotel I checked into. It is in close proximity to one of the city’s transport hubs and popular open markets. The décor is modern with an understated elegance, the staff pleasant (everyone I met was polite, helpful and asked how my journey went). It was initially called Golden Tulip Ibadan, back in 2013 when I still worked in the city. In 2014 the owners of the 4 star hotel changed the name to Owu Crown.
It has 80 rooms in total divided into 7 categories – Standard, Superior, Deluxe, Suite, Apartment, Presidential Suite and Royal corner. Each room is en-suite and equipped with an electronic safe, king-sized bed, arm chairs, Internet Protocol Television, mini fridge, hairdryer, tea/coffee making set, air conditioner and writing desk.
All guests have access to the 24 hour Wi-Fi network, a well-equipped gym, swimming pool, laundry services, an executive bar and a spacious restaurant that has daily meal specials plus an a la carte menu. The menu comprises of many affordable local, Indian, Italian, Chinese and Continental dishes. I only had the complimentary breakfast though so no pictures or testimony on how great the chef is. However, if you are curious; the Sunday Buffet runs from 2pm – 6pm and costs N5000 for couples, N3000 for singles. Maybe you are looking for someplace to hangout and chat with friends over drinks? Try the poolside bar during happy hour from 6pm – 10pm, drinks will be 25% off. In addition to all the aforementioned, the management of Owu Crown Hotel runs a 20% discount on all rooms every weekend and on public holidays.
This hotel in Ibadan has a small meeting room that holds 40 maximum and a large conference hall that can seat a maximum of 100 people theater style. All perfect for seminars, training, parties, wedding receptions and plenty of parking for guests and their visitors. It would seem to have everything both the business and casual traveler could possibly need. Secured by uniformed guards and police patrols, there are CCTV cameras all around the property. It’s so nice there that movie producers approach the management for shoots all the time.
Owu Crown Hotel truly seems to be a new dimension to luxury. If you plan to visit the ancient city soon, click here to book this luxurious hotel.
